2026 On-Property Ram Sale Report
It was a warm one for our 2026 On-property Ram Sale yesterday and the bidding got quite heated too!
78 of the 100 lots auctioned by Kevin Miller Whitty Lennon & Co sold for an average of $2,678.85 with 5 more lots purchased immediately after the sale, resulting in an 83% clearance for the sale at an average of $2,589.76. Bidding was strong, with rams selling for higher figures throughout the sale, showing the depth of quality and consistency of the lotted rams.
The top priced ram was Lot 4, Ram 250098, which sold to long-term clients TH Cooper and Co from Caragabal. Sired by Centre Plus Poll 221304 with a micron of 19.4, the ram was purchased for its excellent figures in regard to wool yield and quality YCFW 25.8, WP 196 and visually good nourishment and crimp; however, the ram will also produce plainer bodied offspring with high early growth rates and good meat characteristics with ASBV figures in the top percentile bands such as EBWR-1.0 (Top 20%), PWT 10.1 (Top 10%), YWT 13.0 (Top 10%), YEMD 2.6 (Top 20%).
New buyers, Hill Family Pastoral from Stockinbingal were strong bidders against the Coopers for numerous lots and ended up taking home the second top-priced ram, Lot 70 for $6,600. This ram, 250065, was sired by Rocklyn’s 230857 and was included in the Hill’s draft due to it’s good early growth rate with figures of PWT 8.2, YWT 10.3, YCFW 22.0, WP 179 and a micron of 19.2. The Hills indicated that they have been watching the Rocklyn rams for many years now and after catching up with Ralph at the SWS Merino Breeders field day at Harden earlier this month, Alex and Tony Hill decided they would purchase some rams with good early growth rates and do some comparisons within their flock.
The third top priced ram was Lot 2, which sold for $6,500 and went to return buyers Warralong Pastoral Co from Coolac. Ram 250061, sired by Ridgway Poll 230187, was hotly contested with numerous bidders wanting to take him home for his excellent dual-purpose qualities including YCFW 35.5, PWT 12.1, YWT 14.9. SM 159, WP 189.
It was great to see several new bidders amongst the buyers as well as our returning clients. Volume buyers included TH Cooper & Co with 13 rams for an average of $3,492.31; McKellar Pastoral Co of Grenfell with 12 rams for an average of $1,387.50; GH & A Robertson, Junee, with 7 rams averaging $1,521.43; Warralong Pastoral Co took home 6 rams for an average of $4,316.67; CC and SM Braid from Frogmore got 6 rams for an average of $2,816.68; and Hill Family Pastoral successfully bidded on 6 rams for an average of $4,233.33.
